FP1266 : "A tract in the retina?"

Abstract

68 year old male presented to eye OPD with diminution of vision in LE since 8 days which was sudden, painless and associated with headache. HTN on treatment. On examination patient visual acuity in left eye was 1/60. Fundus examination in left eye showed severe vitritis with vitreous membranes, Disc was normal, A greyish white curved subretinal structure was seen at papillomacular bundle nasal to disc with wide spread subretinal tracks seen (GRACIA sign) with RPE changes, FR was dull.

HB: 12.3 %
WBC count: 23,740 cells/mm3
EOSINOPHILS: 20.5
IgE: 7938 IU/ml
AEC: 10 cells/mL
ESR: 20 mm/hr
HIV, HbsAg RPR: non reactive
LE OCT : SRF pockets
MRI brain was normal
Patient was diagnosed as DUSN (Diffuse unilateral subacute neuroretinitis) and started tapering dose of oral steroids with oral albendazole 400mg for 30 days. Visual acuity of left eye on discharge was 6/60. On follow up after 1 month, BCVA in the left eye was 6/12.
