Abstract
Study design: Randomized, Prospective, Interventional study
Purpose: To compare anatomical and functional outcomes between the two groups
Methods: 40 patients of fresh retinal detachment (< 1month)were randomized to early (<8 weeks) and late (>12 weeks) SOR groups. Best corrected Visual acuity ( BCVA),Intra Ocular pressure(IOP), Optical Coherence Tomography(OCT) and OCT Angiography paramerters were compared at: 4-week post RD surgery and 4-week post SOR.
Results: Both of the groups were comparable in terms of BCVA and IOP. OCT parameters and macular perfusion showed better results in early group than late.
Conclusion: Early SOR group showed better results than late group in terms of anatomical and functional parameters. However no statistical significance could be established. It can be attributed to the limitation of it being a pilot study with a small sample size.
