Abstract
To study the demography, ocular findings and treatment strategies in retinal vasculitis due to sarcoidosis in a tertiary care centre.
A retrospective study involving 13 eyes of 09 patients diagnosed with retinal vasculitis due to sarcoidosis between the year 2013-2022 based on serum ACE and HRCT of chest.
The mean age of involvement was 37.1 years and 22%were females(n=9).The fundus findings include vascular sheathing(8) ,with skip vasculitis(3); choroidal nodules(1);occlusive vasculopathy(2) and vitritis(2). SSOCT showed CME in 3 eyes and fovea thinning(1). FFA showed active vasculitis(3), disc and vessel staining(5)and NVE(2)eyes.The mean serum ACE level was 84U/L.
Treatment included oral steroids(4), oral steroids with IMT(4) and local steroid injection(3).
Sarcoid retinal vasculitis is not very uncommon, vascular sheathing is a common finding and skip vasculitis is seen in one fourth of cases. Oral steroids with or without immunosuppression is the common treatment regimen used.
