FP2983 : FISHY BUSINESS

Abstract

PURPOSE:To report a case of a penetrating intraocular fish fin spine foreign body and its surgical management
STUDY TYPE:Single case Report
ABSTRACT:
A 39 year old male presented to us with history of injury to the right eye. On examination Right eye showed A Fish fin spine penetrating the sclera more than 10 mm from the limbus at 7 O clock position and extending intraocularly.Fundus examination revealed the fish spine piercing the just foveal region.Ocular imaging was done to confirm the posterior extend of the foreign body.After starting him on systemic antibiotics,he underwent Parsplana vitrectomy with removal of the fish fin spine and silicone oil injection was done.Post operative period was uneventful.After 3 months, he underwent cataract extraction with Silicone oil removal in the right eye.Post operatively he has BVCA 6/60 in the right eye.
