FP2213 : TRAUMATIC RETINAL TEAR WITH CHOROIDAL RUPTURE ASSOCIATED WITH SUBFOVEAL BLEED – A CASE REPORT

Abstract

PURPOSE: To report an interesting case of SNQ retinal tear with subconjunctival hemorrhage with peripapillary choroidal rupture
METHODS: A 19yr old male presented with Dimunition of vision following A/H/O trauma to RE with cricket ball while playing associated with redness, pain and discharge. On examination visual acuity in RE was CF@3m.Right eye anterior segment examination showed Subconjunctival hemorrhage. Fundus examination revealed SNQ retinal tear noted with choroidal rupture with thin film of subretinal bleed .The fellow Left eye was within normal limits
RESULTS: Right eye Cryotherapy was done with Injection C3F8 (0.5ml) at the tear site to provide tamponade effect. The results showed improvement of vision to 6/60 and stablisation of retina after 1 month of followup. The IOP was found to be normal.
Conclusion: Hence we conclude that early diagnosis and the timely intervention played a significant role in providing the best care in the case of retinal tears post trauma
