Abstract

AIM-To study the efficacy of in the bag implantation of 3 piece IOL in paediatric age group of above 2 years.
METHODOLOGY-This retrospective study included 22 children(34 eyes)with congenital and developmental cataracts who underwent surgery at sankar foundation eye hospital,visakhapatnam between august 2015 and january 2017 and were followed up for atleast 6 months after surgery.5children underwent unilateral cataract surgery, and 17underwent bilateral cataract surgery in which 5 children did not underwent surgery for the other eye.

POSTOP VISION-
Better than 6/12-20(58.8%)
Better than 6/60 -4(11.7)
Less than 6/60-8patients(23.5%)

CONCLUSION-Three piece IOL can be safely inserted into the bag in paediatric age group ,even if PCC is large upto4mm it can stay in position
