Abstract
Methods: We retrospectively collected data of all patients attended our emergency department with eyelid laceration between 2010 and 2023 .Data was collected in pretested format collected demographic and clinical data.& statistical analyses done.
Results: A total of 14 patients evaluated for eyelid laceration with median age 13 y and median follow up 52 days. 57.1% were from paediatric age group and 28.6% were toddlers(0-6) Male preponderance 71.4 %, Both lids in 9.4% of total lid injuries, Canalicular tear was in 28.6%. Most were due to road traffic accident 35.7% 35.7% underwent primary lid repair 7.1% Canalicular repair and 14.2% with bicanlicular intubation,21.3% had associated intraocular injuries.
Conclusion: Lid injuries are common with mechanical injuries with lower lid involved commonly in male with Road side traffic being the commonest cause.
