Abstract
PURPOSE
To report a rare presentation of scleral dellen after uneventful pterygium excision
METHODS
A 64 year old male patient underwent pterygium excision with bare sclera technique under local anaesthesia 15days ago in an another hospital and has now presented with foreign body sensation , pain and redness in right eye
On slit lamp examination focal scleral thinning of 3*3mm is noted with severe dry eye. Patient gave history of Pulmonary tuberculosis 2years ago for which he was treated. Patient is treated for dry eye and has been taken up for right eye conjunctival autograft.
RESULTS
Patient was diagnosed with rare complication of scleral dellen following uneventful pterygium excision with bare sclera technique.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion it can be stated that history of granulomatous inflammations and evaluation dry eye is very much needed before posting patient for pterygium surgery.
