FP0131 : CONJUNCTIVAL INCLUSION CYST VERSUS FILTERING BLEB – A CLOSE MIMIC

Abstract

A 60 years female noticed foreign body sensation in left eye which was operated for cataract 6 months back. Slit lamp examination showed 2*3mm oval, transilluminant, vascular, raised, smooth and immobile cystic swelling at 1’o clock near limbus. Differential diagnosis was conjunctival inclusion cyst and filtering bleb at scleral incision. Filtering bleb was unlikely as there was no fish mouthing of the wound. Since needling may cause recurrence, conjunctival cyst excision was planned. Intraoperatively, cyst wall ruptured inadvertently at its basal attachment in sclera. There was no communication to anterior chamber. After excision, conjunctiva was allowed to heal by itself. Patient was followed up until one year which showed no recurrence of cyst. In this patient graft was not placed as it was a small cyst.
