Abstract

Purpose: To describe a case of high altitude retinopathy(HAR) in a young male.
Observations: 25 year old healthy male while on treatment with hyperbaric oxygen for frost bite following descent from high altitude complained of central diminution of vision in left eye. Visual acuity was 6/18, fundus showed multiple retinal hemorrhages. He recovered vision with resolution of hemorrhages in 04 weeks,faster than average time taken of 8-12 weeks.Conclusion: HAR unless screened for or affects vision usually go undiagnosed. Hyperbaric oxygen may expedite visual recovery and resolution of haemorrhages.
