FP0544 : A case study on Coats Disease and its management with intravitreal Ranibizumab

Abstract

AIM Clinical features, treatment, efficacy of intravitreal Ranibizumab in Coats Disease
METHOD Case study of 6year old boy with dimness of vision in LE. A detailed history and complete examination with refraction, NCT, EUA, Fundus Photography, FFA, MRI, USG B-Scan, OCT were done followed by intravitreal Ranibizumab and laser.
RESULTS BCVA was 6/9 in RE, 2/60 in LE. Fundus showed subretinal & intraretinal exudation in macular region. FFA revealed abnormal inferotemporal vessels with telangiectasia and leakage. USG B-Scan shown calcific foci posteriorly. OCT revealed foveal thinning with CME. Ranibizumab was given in LE and vision improved from 2/60 to 6/36
CONCLUSION Coats disease is an idiopathic exudative retinopathy with abnormal retinal telangiectasia, oedema and lipid exudates in young males. After injection of Ranibizumab in LE, BCVA improved to 6/36. Thus Intravitreal anti-VEGF help in reduction of vascular permeability & edema which augment laser photocoagulation effectiveness.
