Abstract
Purpose:To analyze outcome of air descemetopexy for Descemet’s membrane detachment (DMD) post-Phacoemulsification with aid of AS OCT
Method:Prospective interventional study of 41eyes.Outcome measure:successful DM reattachment &improvement in visual acuity (V/A)by 2 Snellen lines
Results:Mean interval between Phacoemulsification, descemetopexy:9± 3 days. DM reattachment post air descmetopexy is seen in 90% 37/41(p<0.05) in 1st attempt.4/41 rebubbling done with C3F8. Statistically significant improvement in V/A post descemetopexy (p < 0.001 for surgeries performed in< 2 weeks, p= 0.03 for surgeries performed later). 2 patients required endothelial transplantation. Pupillary block was seen in 4 patients Both planar/scrolled DMD ( AS OCT Algorithm) showed good results with airdescemetopexy and supine posture for 30minutes.
Conclusion:Air descmetopexy can be effective for DM reposition with good visual outcome when treated on time without need of iso expansile gas
