FP2079 : Prognostic factors and visual outcome in traumatic cataract who underwent cataract surgery

Abstract

Retrospettive study,Purpose-To quantify the visual outcome in terms of visual acuity and prognostic factors after removal of traumatic cataract.Methods-EMR of traumatic cataract patients who received cataract surgery – 2022 Aug to 2023.Age,Gender,Causative agent,Type of injury,Procedure done,Wound Location Initial VA after injury and final VA.Results-Out of 179 patients 53 were females and 126 were males within age group of 25-40 yrs with majority having closed globe injury with mostly by wooden stick involving cornea.54.7% of patients achieved the final visual status of more than 6/12,25.13% patients had 6/12-6/60. IOL implantation was performed in 76%,left Aphakic in 9.4% of patients.Poor visual outcomes seen in Anterior+Posterior segment involvement.Conclusion-Traumatic cataracts are frequently associated with ocular injury,Satisfactory visual results-absence of PS involvement and corneal scar away from the visual axis, with IOL implantation and early prevention
