Abstract
Vitreous surgery is often a smooth sailing in the diseased vitreous, but sometimes in adverse environment, turbulent vitreous can break the sails and cause significant problems during surgery. Every training fellow goes through these complications and here in this video, we are showcasing the complications that are commonly occurring in vitreous surgery. When the sailing is good, everyone is a good surgeon, but when complications strike, there will be mental blocks as well as mistakes of omission and commissions. In this video, we are showcasing common problems like infusion cannula related problems, intraoperative lens touch, iatrogenic tears and intra operative bleeding. The video will give a good understanding to the fellows and junior vitreoretinal surgeons, how to manage these problems as well as how to prevent the same. To make the understanding of the pathology better, we have added animations for each of the complications as well. A must watch video for budding surgeons.
