VT0463 : The Humble needle

Abstract

This video describes the versatility of a 26G 1 inch needle in Vitreoretinal surgery.
.Trans-scleral subretinal fluid drainage in Scleral buckling
.Trans-conjunctival drainage of Subretinal fluid in Exudative Retinal Detachments (such as in Coat's disease)
.Trans-scleral drainage of subretinal fluid along with vitrectomy for posteriorly loculated fluid with extremely anterior breaks
.OPD fluid gas exchange
.Identification of the break in RD surgery- injecting Subretinal BBG with the needle
.Induction of PVD in eyes with densely adherent posterior hyaloid can be initiated and peeled using the needle
.Identification and dissection of secondary membrane in Combined RD
.Identification of secondary membrane in flat proliferations in TRD
.ERM removal without vitrectomy in children can be aided by the needle
.Tackling vitreoretinal adhesions in ROP – using the needle to open the posterior hyaloid
.Sutured scleral fixated IOL
.Impailing in nucleus drop
