Abstract
Marcus Gunn jaw-winking synkinesis (MGJWS) is a congenital syndrome characterized by ptosis of the eyelid in conjunction with synkinetic elevation of the ptotic eyelid during jaw movements, also known as the jaw-winking phenomenon. Management of MGJWS may involve surgical correction of the ptosis and/or the jaw-winking phenomenon, depending on the severity of symptoms, degree of functional impairment and aesthetic concerns of the patient. Selecting an approach for the surgical management of eyelid malposition in this syndrome is challenging and requires a detailed discussion with the patient, their family and their expectations from the procedure. In this surgical video, we describe a case of a 28-year-old male of north-east Indian origin with a left eye congenital ptosis with Marcus Gunn jaw winking synkinesis undergoing unilateral levator resection with frontalis flap advancement having a satisfactory outcome.
