GP0164 : Mastering Penetrating Keratoplasty & its sequelae

Corneal blindness is one of the major causes of reversible blindness, which can be managed with
transplantation of a healthy donor cornea. In the era of lamellar surgeries, Penetrating keratoplasty
(PK), is still the most common keratoplasty done in India.
This Case & Video based IC shall discuss all the nuances associated with PK. Masters shall explain tips
& tricks of Therapeutic & Optical PK along with Triple Procedure. Timely management of Intra & Post
operative complications including graft rejection/failure, suture management to glaucoma to
optimum visual rehabilitation including management of astigmatism to cataract/aphakic surgical
techniques will be explained in detail. PK in children and adolescents is a challenging surgery, not
only regarding the surgical procedure per se, but also during follow-up and rehabilitation. As a
cherry topping, a holistic methodology of dealing with Pediatric PK shall also be laid out.
