FP0672 : Surgical outcomes of muscle transplantation surgery in childhood esotropia

Abstract

Study design:prospective interventional study Purpose:To report surgical outcomes in case series of childhood esotropia  undergoing muscle transplantation surgery. Methods:all paediatric cases having esotropic strabismus disorder are comprehensively (orthoptic) evaluated. These are concomitant esotropia of various clinical subclasses with large angle deviation of >70 prism diopters. Were taken up for surgery and post operative assessment was done.
In all the cases we achieved near orthotropic undercorrection of <10 prism diopters. In a case of Acute Acquired Concomitant Esotropia we achieved orthotropia and the pt got relief from diplopia and compensatory head posture.
Results : Out of 12 cases male–5, female–7;age group ranging from 3.5years – 15years,11 of 12 cases we achieved orthotropia and 1 case resulted in overcorrection of 10 prism diopters
Conclusion:our study proves the amazing surgical outcomes of muscle transplantation surgery to correct childhood concomitant esotropia .
