Abstract

Study Design: Retrospective, Comparative Study. Purpose: To analyze factors contributing to myopia progression despite the use of LDA (0.01% Atropine). Methods: 100 eyes of 53 subjects who were regular LDA-users for myopia progression with a follow-up of ≥ 6 months. A 6-month adjusted myopia progression (AMP) was derived by dividing the change in spherical equivalent by follow-up in days and multiplying by 180. Those with AMP ≥ 0.5 and < 0.5 were termed failure (F) and success (S) respectively. Results: 100 eyes of 53 patients (30 males, mean age: 10.8±3.9yrs) were included. The mean follow-up period was 348.45 days. The average AMP was 0.4±0.27 D. 15 eyes were in the F group. There were no significant differences in gender, age, refractive error profile, or best-corrected acuity at either baseline or follow-up between eyes in groups S and F. (p>0.05). Conclusion:15% of eyes had myopia progression despite LDA. Other possible variables that may influence response need to be explored.
