Abstract
Study of baseline characteristics of FAF in cases of sub macular hemorrhage (SMH).
Patients with treatment-naive sub foveal hemorrhage of >2DD of any cause- color fundus photos, OCT and blue FAF at presentation between June 2017 and June 2023 included in this retrospective study. SMH imaging characteristics were correlated with treatment outcome. The displacement /clearing of the SMH under the fovea was considered a successful treatment outcome.
There was total 19 SMH cases from 14 to 85 years age. The most common etiology was nAMD. The baseline VA ranged from 6/9 to CF ½ mt. Average time for presentation to the retina clinic was 7 days from onset. Treatment success seen in 13 (68%) of the eyes. SMH resolution was successful in eyes with hypoAF on FAF. Clinical heme characteristics, OCT scans, treatment choice showed no correlation with treatment success. Only hypoAF on FAF was capable of predicting treatment success, using Spearman's correlation test and linear regression analysis.
