IC0005 : TACKLING POSTERIOR CAPSULE RUPTURE & IOL IMPLANTATION: VIDEO COURSE

Abstract

This video based course tends to showcase videos on various aspects like inadvertent occurrence of posterior capsule rupture (PCR) during a cataract surgery followed by its effective management with vitrectomy followed by various types and methods of stable IOL implantation as per the surgical scenario. Associated complications subsequent to ineffective handling of PCR followed by its management will also be demonstrated. The course will also showcase a short video on preoperative judgment of weak posterior capsule in suspected cases of trauma, connective tissue disorders etc. with high frame per second recording on slit-lamp that warns the surgeon of an impending disaster, allowing contingency plans to be ready. Early recognition and management of posterior capsule rupture is a key to prevent sequential complications, which can trail and have an adverse effect on the visual output. This issue needs to be properly addressed to optimize the visual outcomes.
